Here we are, it is Tuesday October 26th. I can`t believe this month is almost over, where has it gone. I haven`t posted much as we haven`t gone on any trips. We are just living day to day life right now. Wyatt is doing really well in swimming. He actually swam the whole length of the pool on his back without any assistance of any kind (no floaties, no life jacket, no noodle, etc.) Very proud of him. His stamina is building up, he was able to make it through the whole class without getting out. Classes are 45 minutes long. And I have to add, he is keeping up with the older kids in his class. He is the youngest by a few years. Yes, can you tell a proud momma when you hear one! We went out and got him a pair of turf soccer cleats, he loves them. He is still enjoying soccer. Sometimes it is a bit hard on him as the coach only speaks greek to him (he does speak english but rarely uses it). So Clay and I are usually at the fence translating for him so he can join in properly.
We tried to get Lydia into gymnastics, but they only start at the age of 4. So far, there is nothing available for her at this age. Fortunately, right now she is content to watch Wyatt and be with us.
I started running again. I have to say it is nice to run in the nice weather. Yesterday I was out running through the farms and saw a lady picking oranges in her fields. So nice, I ran by and said good morning and kept going. My route so far is not too long, but I get to run through the farm lands then back out on the beach. Very nice to have that mix of scenery. I am going to start pilates next week. Wish me luck. It will be a 2.2km bike ride (last part of ride up hill) to get to the pilates class, an hour class, then bike back 2.2km. Good start and ending to a workout! :) I have been asked to come out to the womens and mens soccer practices, but will not at this time. I am still having some problems with my foot. It is getting better, but not well enough to kick a ball. And the practice starts at 9pm til 10:30pm - did I mention that it is 2km uphill away! A lot of factors at this point. However, Clay is going to check it out and get involved.
We both want to start swimming, but trying to fit it all in and get a schedule going is a bit tough. Once we get it all figured out it will be good, and busy.
Now on to potty training - it is going great. We have only had a few pee accidents. Now for the other, well, Lydia likes her underwear over the toilet! Not fun. Not sure how to get her to go. I think I might take her by a toy store and let her see all the toys and have her pick a favorite one and then tell her she can have it if she goes on the potty. Lets hope she falls for it! :)
Starting Wednesday (tomorrow) and Thursday, Sitia is having a celebration. Apparently this is the time that Germany tried to take over Sitia and failed. So they have a celebration. There will be a parade on Thursday, so we will take the kids to that along with anything else they have. I guess I should look up and polish up my history! :) I had to ask today if something was coming up as people are hanging their Greek flags out.
I can`t remember if I mentioned in my last post, but we got a pedal bike, with a basket and a childs seat. It has come in handy. It is a lot easier and quicker to get Wyatt to swimming and soccer. And it will be easier to get to pilates and adult soccer. It is also used for small grocery trips. Very handy.
We`ve had some good storms since we have been here. We are supposed to have another thunder storm tomorrow. Chances are pretty good as the wind has picked up a lot this afternoon. Other than that we have had pretty good weather. It is still low to mid 20`s during the day.
Today was a really good day with the kids. I have to say that with them being more settled and their behaviour being better, it makes for better days! Today we walked into town, grabbed some lunch, then I took the kids to the beach while I sat in a cafe restaurant `(on the beach) and had a frappee. Clay had to go to a store to get some stuff. After he came and joined me and had a coffee. The kids played nicely, and then we walked home along the beach. Very nice day.
Ok, I am out of here now. Not much else going on here.
Take care everyone, we miss you guys lots.
Correction - It was Italy that tried to take over Greece in WWII, not Germany. A lady at the pool told me Germany, but I looked it up and it was Italy. It is called the OXI Celebration.
